The Salerno - Costa d'Amalfi Airport community is so constituted:
FOLLOWING COMPLEX LEGISLATIVE PROCEDURES, THE NEW NAVIGATIONAL CODE FINALLY BECAME EFFECTIVE 20 OCTOBER, 2005 AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY MODIFIED, IN PART, WITH LEGISLATIVE DECREE 151 DATED 15 MARCH 2006.
The primary objective of the reform was to define the roles and responsibilities of all the parties operating within the airport and to introduce the figure of the airport manager for the first time as, prior to this point, it had not been expressly provided for in the regulations.
With the introduction of the new decree, the airport manager has become the point of reference for the safety and security of airport functionality and operativeness and, above all, his or her functions and powers of co-ordination for the entire system as attributed by the new regulations.
Specifically, the airport manager is charged with the technical and operative co-ordination and control of all the private parties operating in the airport and is also responsible for the administration and management of the infrastructure and organising airport activities as to ensure consistently high levels of quality and safety and security and, subject to ratification on the part of ENAC, to apply temporary bans if needed in urgent situations as provided for by the Airport Regulations.
BASED UPON THE NEW REGULATIONS, THE ENAC (ENTE NAZIONALE PER L'AVIAZIONE CIVILE) HAS BECOME THE ONLY AVIATION AUTHORITY OF SUPERVISION IN THE SECTOR, THE ONLY REGULATORY AGENCY AND GUARANTOR FOR THE UNIFORM APPLICATION OF REGULATIONS.
