Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi Airport is open from 5:00 to 22.30 unless changes of flights operations.

The check-in desks open 2 hours before scheduled departure time, for domestic and international flights.

The timing is approximate and depends on the procedures of each airline. We recommend you to check on the website of the airline you are travelling with.

When the check-in operations start, the number of the check-in desk associated with your flight appears on the information monitors. At the check-in desk you must show: the paper or electronic ticket, a valid document (passport or identity card), any medical documentation required by the country of destination and your hold luggage.

Maximum baggage size and weight vary according to airline, destination and booking class. Check the airline’s website for the weight and size of hand and hold baggage allowed.

Online check-in

According to the indications provided by the airline, you can print your boarding pass or download it on your smartphone and go directly to the security checks located on the ground floor of the terminal, if you do not have hold baggage to check in.

Travel documents and recommendations

Carry a valid identity document, your ticket and any luggage with you and keep your documents handy as they will be requested at the boarding gate.

Following the EU Regulation 2017/458 of the European Parliament about the reinforcement of checks in the databases at the external borders, we advise all passengers, departing for the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and Egypt, who are minors or hold only a non-electronic ID card/passport , to reach the airport in advance in order to proceed to border controls in time.

DOMESTIC FLIGHTS

When travelling within the national territory, you can use one of the identification documents listed below. We suggest you, in any case, to check with your airline.

SCHENGEN AND EXTRA-SCHENGEN COUNTRIES

Traveling to countries that are part of the Schengen Agreement only requires an identity card valid for expatriation.

For extra-Schengen destinations, it is necessary to have a valid passport and, for some non-EU Countries, a visa is also required (for information contact the appropriate diplomatic-consular Office or your travel agent).

Minors travelling

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS FOR CHILDREN
Minors can travel with:

An individual passport
An ID card if travelling within the EU
Up to 15 years of age, with a birth and citizenship certificate (art. 7/14 25/11/2009) endorsed by the Police.

For trips abroad, minors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by one of their parents.

The child's registration on the parent's passport is no longer valid since 27/06/2012. Parent's passports with minor children registration remain valid for the holder only until the natural expiry of the document. UNACCOMPANIED MINORS
Procedures for the travel of unaccompanied minors are established by the airline the child is travelling with.
You can visit airline website. For journeys abroad, 'accompanying authorisation' issued by the Police authority is required.

Baggage wight and size

Baggage wight and size
Maximum baggage weight and size requirements vary according to airline, destination and class of reservation. We recommend you to check with your airline or travel agent for details. In the event that your baggage exceeds established limits, you may be asked to pay additional charges.
We suggest you to place a tag on your luggage with your details.

SPECIAL BAGGAGE

Sport equipments, such as bycicles, surfboard, skis can be carried in the hold, according to the airline procedure, registered at check-in and sent through a dedicated gateway.

Bulky baggages, such as musical instruments of big dimensions, has to be placed in the seat next to you. Therefore, you need to book and pay for an extra seat. Check with your airline for weight and dimensions.

If you carry firearms and ammunitions, you must follow specific instructions and be in possession of the documentation certifying the possession.

TRANSPORT OF LIQUIDS

EU Regulation no. 2015/1998, dated 05/11/15, imposes limitations on the transport of liquids in carry-on bags - LAGs -
All gassy, gelatinous, creamy or liquid substances (deodorant, hair spray, gels, creams, beverages, perfumes, lotions, oils etc) must be carried in containers of no more than 100 ml each for a maximum of one liter per passenger. The containers must be placed in a transparent re-sealable bag and presented separately to security personnel.

These limitations do not apply to medicines, baby food or milk required for the duration of the entire journey.
Furthermore, passengers, may carry liquids purchased, within the last 24 hours, at Duty Free shops in any airport as long as the item and the receipt remain sealed in the plastic bag.
For checked baggage, you can carry Lags greater than 100 ml.

Caution: fresh cheeses, such as mozzarella, provola and fior di latte, although deprived of their liquid, are included in the paste substances not allowed in the cabin. The only cheeses allowed on board are "dry" ones, such as parmesan cheese.

TRANSPORT OF PETS

Each airline has different rules on pets transportion. Check your airline official website for futher information.

Small pets are generally allowed to travel in the cabin with you, otherwise they will travel in the hold. In any case, you will have to use an approved transport cage appropriate to the pet size. Check the vaccinations and certificates required in the country of destination and bring your pet's health documents.

For travel to EU countries, dogs and cats must have a "health passport," issued by the veterinarians of the competent local ASPs, be rabies vaccinated and identified by microchip.

For travel to Non-EU countries , we suggest you contact the relevant veterinary services in the area.

Protected species such as birds, fish, frogs and land turtles can only be brought into Italy with a certificate of origin issued by the country of origin. The CITES (export permit) certificate must be shown. Guide dogs may travel in the hold with a kennel or, subject to space availability, in the cabin, provided with muzzled and leashed. Guide dogs are carried free of charge and are not subject to pet weight limits. Space availability for the dog must be requested when booking the flight. The dog's owner must also provide the necessary equipment for the animal's travel (muzzle, leash and/or kennel).

FORBIDDEN ITEMS

HOLD LUGGAGE

You will not be allowed to carry in your hold luggage:

explosives and incendiary substances and devices – explosives and incendiary substances and devices capable of being used to cause serious injury or to pose a threat to the safety of aircraft, including:
- ammunition;
- blasting caps,
- detonators and fuses,
- mines, grenades and other explosive military stores,
- fireworks and other pyrotechnics,
- smoke-generating canisters and smoke-generating cartridges,
- dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives.

*Firearms and ammunitions transportation is allowed in hold bag according the regulations and informing the airline to receive the authorization.

HAND LUGGAGE

— items designed for chopping, such as axes, hatchets and cleavers;
— ice axes and ice picks;
— razor blades;
— box cutters;
— knives with blades of more than 6 cm;
— scissors with blades of more than 6 cm as measured from the fulcrum;
— martial arts equipment with a sharp point or sharp edge;
— swords and sabres;
workmen's tools — tools capable of being used either to cause serious injury or to threaten the safety of aircraft, including:
— crowbars;
— drills and drill bits, including cordless portable power drills;
— tools with a blade or a shaft of more than 6 cm capable of use as a weapon, such as screwdrivers and chisels;
— saws, including cordless portable power saws;
— blowtorches
— bolt guns and nail guns;
blunt instruments — objects capable of being used to cause serious injury when used to hit, including:
— baseball and softball bats;
— clubs and batons, such as billy clubs, blackjacks and night sticks;
— martial arts equipment;
explosives and incendiary substances and devices

Travelers’ resident or domiciled outside the European Union may obtain direct relief or subsequent refund of the VAT charged on goods purchased domestically.
This benefit may be granted provided that:

The value of the goods purchased, per invoice, exceeds 70.01 euro. The goods are intended for personal or family use and are carried in personal luggage
the invoice bears a description of the goods, the personal data of the traveller, passport details or other equivalent document proving that the traveller is resident or domiciled outside the EU;
the exit of the goods from the EU territory takes place within the third month following the date of issue of the invoice and bears the Customs stamp;

The OTELLO service has been active since 1st September 2018, a procedure that digitalises the visa to be affixed to tax-free invoices, issued electronically. It should be noted that at the time of purchase the traveller must make sure that the copy of the invoice received from the shopkeeper bears the request code attesting to its submission to OTELLO.

In any case, VAT refunds are never made by customs offices.

At the Salerno Airport is available the Customs Office Tax Free near the check-in counters where you can apply for a refund authorisation only. The customs office may ask you to show the goods purchased.

For goods to be carried in hand luggage, we suggest you go to the Customs Office located on the 1st floor after security checkpoint and request authorisation for reimbursement. The customs office may ask you to present the purchased goods. Once these steps have been completed, go to the authorised VAT refund point.

Please note that travellers flying on a single ticket from a Schengen country and checked through to a non-EU destination can get the customs visa needed for VAT relief or refund at the customs office located at the airport of origin.

However, the service is also available for goods that are not carried in the luggage travelling with the passenger and are sent to their domicile abroad as “unaccompanied baggage”, if they do not leave the customs territory of the Community.

In this case, the airline is responsible for shipping the goods to destination and to issue the so-called air waybill. For VAT relief or refund purposes, the customs office at destination will affix the relevant digital visa, provided that:

the goods described on the air waybill match the goods described on the seller’s invoice:
the sender’s name matches the addressee’s name;
the air waybill bears the details of the same identification document (passport or any other valid document) that is contained in the invoice issued by the Italian seller.
